Summer Lovin’

I love summer. I love the heat, I love laying in the sunshine, I love running outside, I love tan skin, I love outdoor parties and the feeling of love on a steamy summer night. And I really, really love pink. Thankfully, there is no better way to dress in summer and look like you are a the epitome of love than in a little pink dress. This past weekend, I wore a blush-toned (my favorite color of all time) romper with a silver lace-up back out in the Hamptons (see photo!). And while we were in the middle of a crazy heatwave, the color and style at least made me appear to not be sweating to death (in reality I was, just like everyone else). I am pretty tan so I tend to look for really light shades in summer to be in contrast with my skin and really show it off. And pink is one of those universally flattering colors…if you are naturally dark-skinned or just have a great tan, go for blush or baby pastel pink. If you have pale or porcelain skin (or just no tan yet), choose a hot pink or magenta tone to really pop and take center stage. And then there’s that bubble gum, medium pink that pretty much looks good on every skin color. I have pink rompers, mini dresses, midi dresses and maxi dresses in my closet, but the mini dresses to me are the perfect silhouette to bring some pink love into your wardrobe. Check out these options in the shades I mentioned…

I love the romanticism of the Bellisario dress from Selfie Leslie, with its bow front, ruffle hem, spaghetti straps and palest pink color. You can “toughen” it up a little with some shiny gold edgy jewelry, chunky gold platform heels and a hard-sided clutch. This flatters darker skin the best…use it to show off what you were born with or have earned from some serious hours pool-side…

This one, the Play on Curves dress from Lulu’s, literally flatters every skin tone. Whether you are super dark or super pale, this bubble gum/Pepto shade will work. I would pair this with strappy nude heels to compliment the lace-up corset back, and just wear big chandelier earrings and one great cocktail ring or bangle…

If you are an SPF junkie and happy to protect your porcelain white skin, try a really bright hot pink mini dress. The Viv from Amanda Uprichard is just fabulous (and of course works on darker or tan skin too!). Its super saturated color will garner you attention from the minute you walk in the door, and the structured neckline can be softened a bit with a few layers of delicate necklaces and some feminine dangling earrings.

So now go ahead…use any of these pretty pink picks to make this your summer of love…
